If you hit the receiver accidentally you really didn't mean to, its not a foul?!?
Its ridiculous to think it could be officiated any other way.
The rule was put in for player safety.
It was not a dirty hit but it was an illegal hit.
It was the correct call.
Letter of the rule....sure.
But he wasn't head hunting which is the purpose of the rule to regulate.
