I am not convinced that Mannion was ever seen as a longterm option and more of a stop gap to this staff.
He is not as bad as Sunday for sure but he certainly showed signs of being told not to be a hero.
I had notice that McVay apparently controls reads and options by his play selection and especially early some plays appeared to have decoys and only 1 passing option. It appeared that way to me.
McVay is very meticulous and it is very clear that what many of us see as staring down WR and even not seeing open ones may be restrictions of the plays he is calling and sees as teaching more than it is the QB not being aware.
Sounds weird but if McVay is so fearless and aggressive as we all site at times he is also known to hold back. The goaline field go attempt with 1 second left in the half down by 17 points. McVay made that decision.
I am willing to give Mannion a bit more leeway but not feeling he has trade value given his level of development in our system seems we could more easily replace him and upgrade or bring someone else up to that level.
