In resting key players this Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams and rookie head coach Sean McVay would be using the weekend as a pseudo-bye to get healthy and host a wild card opener.

There could be some truth to this but I don't buy in with the angling accusations while sitting here in my living room.

I'm just another opinion like anyone else who is speculating for or against this type of strategic foresight, but I clearly think it's drama hype to get people to consider and talk about it as possibly being true.

There is no such thing as an easier path for the Rams to fluke their way to the Super Bowl.

If the the Rams are as good as some of us think they are, they will play good enough to win one playoff game at a time and keep advancing. If not, they will run into a team right out of the gate that out plays them and ultimately sends them packing their bags for the 2018 off-season.

I believe no matter what happens with the score of the game vs the 49ers, the team playing the best football in the NFC will win the conference and represent in the Super Bowl.

The outcome of 49er/Rams game is not going be the reason why the Eagles, Vikings, Saints, Panthers, Rams etc... ended up failing or surviving.

The play it safe crowd that speaks of.... this is a young team, keep the momentum going, McVay is outsmarting himself and the 10 other logical and even formidable excuses don't fly with me in this particular season.

The Rams will not lose a playoff game in the first round, divisional round, or the NFC Championship game because McVay and his staff didn't let the star players try to win a game vs SF and slipped to the 4th seed.

Or visa versa, and pull off a wild victory vs SF defending their 3rd seed but protecting starters that needed the extra work or what ever the chosen theories.

To each their own on this theory but it doesn't fly with me no matter how someone spins it.

Believe me I've heard all the spin and some good ones from you intelligent posters on the Herd board as well as the seasoned NFL media.

This was a collaborative round table discussion and consensus decision made by McVay, Wade, Fassel and all the coaches and staff members on many levels.

I'm all in with what they decided was best for the team to be at their peak a week from Sunday.
