This constant criticism of TA is not warranted.
He does what is asked of him (so far as we know) and does it well.
Yes, he did (this year) have a problem fielding punts; but that was new. That it has occurred shortly after his wrist surgery is not a coincidence.
If TA was $2m a year instead of $12 mil his name wouldn't be dragged through the muck.
The Rams offered him a huge contract under that personnel wunderkind Fisher (same guy who gave an already under contract Foles a big expensive new contract before he ever played a game for the Rams), and it has not worked out.
Who knows where this goes. It sure seems like TA is always going to have a limited role under McVay. I argued against the position that McVay seems to be progressively removing TA from the offense, but now it sure seems so.
I don't know that the Rams are willing to take a big cap hit ($5 mil) in order to save $3 mil next year. Spend $8 mil and have Tavon; spend $5 mil and do NOT have Tavon. But if there is just no place in McVay's offense for him anymore, then it'll happen.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
