Suh-weet!
I'm as delighted as everyone else to have Fisher gone and McVay at the helm. but can we give a little credit where some is due.
Of the 11 Pro Bowlers, alternates, and snubs identified in the
ESPN article, 10 were acquired under Fisher/Snead.
Emphasis Snead, Suh. Lol.
... why be so withholding in praise of Fisher? By all accounts, Fisher and Snead were both loud, joint voices in all personnel decisions. Most of us agree that Fisher was awful in some key ways and are delighted to have McVay in his place. Why the unwillingness to also acknowledge that Fisher ALSO played a major role in acquiring a LOT of players that turned out to be pretty danged good?
Because Fisher was tone deaf on O matters, Suh. I don’t think that’s even debatable given our hindsight.
Hell, he couldn’t even bring himself to hire competent OC’s! Or maybe competent OC’s refused to work for him?
Even when good O players were brought in, Fisher and his crack O staff couldn’t properly develop them. Bradford, Foles, Keenum? Just to mention some QB’s? Geez, Fisher loved Barnes, Britt, Quick, and Kendricks. They’d all probably still be here had Fisher remained.
Look, McVay at the age of 31 and in his first year as Ram HC has provided AMPLE evidence of Fisher’s shortcomings. And Snead, without being hampered by Fisher, just had a terrific draft even though lacking a 1st rounder.
Common sense tells me that Snead gets the lion’s share of the credit for bringing in O talent. Fisher is Dead to me.
I rest my case.
Rant over...
