They shouldn't be overlooked just because the score was so lopsided. On the play I guessed "Drawing offsides?" Then I said "please just run it up the middle, don't throw". It was a mess and (I'm happy to say) uncharacteristic of McVay so far.
Now for the record, I'm unhappy the play was called, but on the other hand, I find it preferable to err on the side of aggression than caution.
Another questionable coaching call was not pulling the stars of the game out sooner, directly after the score went to 40-0.
