Goff cannot lead team to victory against quality opponents in tight games late when he is trailing. THAT IS BECOMING A REPEATING THEME.
Maybe, he will in time, but McVay tries to control everything and has no trust in him. All of this line of scrimmage chit chat with him in his ear until 15 seconds left on the playclock = Lack of Trust
I have never seen a team trailing late use the entire play clock so late in the game. To me that is a complete indicator that Goff is nowhere near what it takes to make that big play in the closing minutes of game. He has come up short every time.
Superbowls are won with players just playing and improvising during the play not trying to use the entire play clock ahead of the play.
Montana to Clark legendary. The Elli to David Tyree connection, etc.
Hell, McVay if he could would try to talk to the players during the action of these plays.
The disappointment in these late games drives with Goff is building. Too much chit chat and not enough play is the theme. And the clock management is horrific.
I am still stunned that the Rams used the entire play clock trailing. Just stunned. and got the ball back with 1 second left because of that lack of preparation.
