What I’ve always thought is that when good playoff teams play, suddenly it’s very hard to run the ball by either team.
You just don’t see teams in the playoffs allowing opponents to run down the field and score TDs like you see during the regular season. The intensity and speed of the game goes up to It’s highest level, and that lends to fewer missed tackles and fewer missed gap assignments.
Pass defense does not benefit to the same degree as run defense in the playoffs. That’s why you see the great QBs shine in the playoffs.
