I think he can be elite, and very soon. But to put him so high on all those categories is premature, based on what is on film.
Well, when you watch the film you have to 'feel' the film, not like a computer, but like a human being who undestands ebb and flow, but like a computer who can compare one QB to 30-40 others while watching one play; if you don't have that ability, of course you can't 'see' that Goff is light years ahead of most HOFers in their 2nd year. You have to compare Goff to thousands of hours of watching Boomer, Ken O'Brien, Everett, Marino, Favre, Bradshaw, Staubach and hundreds of others. And, I would put Goff way ahead of 95% of those guys in their first 2 years. Of course, I have been watching 3-6 full NFL games from 1978 to 1986 for 5 years now...so, I have 1000s of hours in this gig....dig it, baby. Just win, and Goff will!.[/quote]
Lots of people have old games. I have a huge collection going back to the early 1970s through the present, including all the 1981 49ers, 82-84, too. Also have the 1979 game in LA when Montana threw his first pass, but I digress. Also have some experience coaching QBs and being an OC on a low level of football. Anyway, everyone is free to have their own opinion. But they are not free from having that opinion challenged.
And people can surely disagree with me, but I am not going to puff up my analysis of a QB just because he play's for my team. And that's what I see going on here. Sure, It's great that Rams are winning and have a good chance of maybe going 13-3 and Goff has great chance to go to Pro Bowl this year. But the comparisons being made are not yet there.
I love the enthusiasm being shown, but it isn't a substitute for substance
