McVay is so good at finding the right balance.
You don't have to tell the players how important this game is; they know. They know the standings and they know that the Rams and Eagles could be playing each other for the NFC championship at some point. They know that winning assures that they will continue to lead the NFC West.
So the key is execute the game plan and play to their capability. The outcome will result from that.
But McVay also wants the emotions to be held in check because too hyped up is nearly as bad as flat. He knows that the Rams aren't going to be flat.
And he's right; as important as it is, the Eagles game is just one game. This game is not going to decide the season. So he's not going to heap too much pressure on a very young team. He's going to keep it in perspective so the players can stay loose and have some fun. Business as usual. Hype is the media's job, not his.
