but I also don't believe it is taught against, either. I've seen too much of it. I think it's more of a reflex that needs to be conditioned out of a player and that is something that simply isn't being done. It's part of the erosion of fundamentals that we see virtually every week on the football field (and basketball court, and baseball field, etc.). Shazier has been particularly egregious in this matter. Donte Whitner was another. James Harrison. These players and others like them are ultra aggressive on the field, and that hyper aggression seems to lend itself to a reflexive lowering of the helmet. They think little of their bodies when they play, and ultimately pay the price. I hope Shazier recovers enough to lead a normal life. But quite honestly, it might be better for him if he doesn't come back enough to play any more football.
