I think it's the logistics of getting there, parking there if need be, and leaving there. NOT so much the 'old girl'... although I admit it's not up to par.
I've attended one game since they returned to LA... and no doubt about it, loved the experience - - and that mostly for 'nostalgic' reasons. Had season tickets there, (periodically), in the 70's. Watched my heroes come out of that tunnel. How could I not be nostalgic?... but that said -
I'm looking forward to the new stadium. In the 70's it was nothing for me to get up at 2:30am to set my farm in order then hop in my car for the 4 hour drive to the Coliseum - arriving at 9am for a 1pm game... then afterwards handing around to visit with the players then hopping into my car for the 4 hour drive home. Today?
Yikes. No chance I'm doing that... well, maybe, if there was no other way.
So it's not just the 'stadium' itself I'm looking forward to.. it's the entire complex. Hotels, restaurants, entertainment, all in one place. Casual no hurry drive, or flight, to LA... couple days for the game, then casually home. - JamesJM
