The 'tavon effect' (whatever it is, or isnt) is a mystery to me. I dunno just how much of an effect he has as a decoy.
I know they are not gonna pay him a huge salary next year, so i assume he'll be gone next year. I just wonder how that will affect the offense. I dunno.

I think it's absolutely clear that it does work. And analysts have discussed this using tape and stills---and it;s more than one guy who has demonstrated this conclusively. And in fact you can see it during the games, you don't need analysts to show it to you.
Let's put it this way. How often would you use a player as a decoy if it in fact didn't work? Like...twice, maybe? In an entire season? You think McVay is pig-headed enough to repeatedly do something like that that simply does not work?
The choice next year btw is not that simple. He counts 5 M against the cap no matter what they do. They only save 3 M if they cut or trade him. So it's a simple question. Is he worth keeping for 3 M or not.
We KNOW he's capable of doing more than he has this year because he HAS done more than he has this year. The question is, then, is he worth 3 M? (Cause that is what it amounts to.) Especially when you have a lot of cap space anyway. I can see them keeping the guy on the premise that he missed all of last off-season and if I recall most if not all of training camp and therefore presumably could be integrated better into the passing game if they DID have him for a full off-season.
