It's one thing to string wins together.
It's another to NOT string losses together. Hard to do.
McVay's Rams have, so far this ripening season, have not lost more than 1 game before winning again. What does that mean? No deep holes to climb out of. No overt chest thumping in lieu of real, palpable confidence and a deep seated belief in oneself and the team. And it shows that any loss is really an anomaly, and not the actual nature of the team.
To me the most astonishing thing is that the biggest losers in the history of football have become winners almost overnight. Who do we thank for this? Is there really any question about it? The Kid. McVay. Somehow he has brought in a high standard, failure is not an option attitude. He has taught his players to trust the plan, the process and one another. And this after the unbelievably horrid coaching of Jeff Fisher who assembled a cast of characters in which the only chemistry is the kind that when mixed blows up the lab.
No one knows how the remaining 5 games will go. No one knows if the Rams will win the division, stumble and give it back to the Seahawks, back in with a Wild Card slot, or barely miss out on the playoffs. This is, after all, the second youngest team in the league and they have a lot of learning to do about winning the biggest games against the best teams. But a blind man can see that this team is built on a solid foundation and has legs. Great coaching, budding Franchise QB, playmakers on offense, tough defense, and very good STs. And did I already say it? YOUNG.
