Just so quick to throw these long time players out like yesterdays garbage
Quinn is breaking down. The Rams will likely move on. Is it necessary to tear the man down or dismiss his contributions. I just don’t get that.
I never threw out guys like Youngblood or Faulk when it was clear they couldn't do it anymore.
The statements you made about Quinn, however, are exaggerated. Since the back injury he has been a health issue, but, from 2012 (when he became a full time starter) though 2014 he missed a total of 2 games. So that's 40 sacks with 2 games missed. The back is what killed him (in 2015). According to people who have friends at North Carolina, Quinn now plays in constant pain. Even given that he missed just one game this year, the Houston game.
Quinn also developed into a tough run defender and he was just simply not the patsy facing double teams the writer you quote implies.
Everyone understands that he is living on borrowed time, is never going to be what he was, and that this is probably his last year.
BUT what caused all of that was the 2015 back injury. Up until then he was relentless. Including against double teams.
