I don't see a way for them to do that and extend AD.
If they did, they will lose significant players in Joyner and Robey-Coleman.
Also, you don't indicate how they are getting rid of Austin. If they are cutting him, they only save $3M which isn't enough for it to significantly impact a Watkins/TruJ decision.
If they manage to trade him somehow, they'll save $8M which could alter what they are able to do.
Good point about Austin (two, actually). So if you just keep one, who would it be? My initial instinct would be Watkins, but not sure TruJo might be more impactful (heresy, I know
)? They have a lot of weapons to spread the ball around to - Woods, Kupp, Higbee, Everett, and might be easier to develop a top tier WR than CB in draft? And Woods much more bang for the buck, so far at least.
Ultimately the decision will be based on factors & trade offs such as these, bang for buck, what side can afford loss least, positional scarcity, what position they think they are more likely to be able to replace, develope, etc.
