If they did, they will lose significant players in Joyner and Robey-Coleman.

Also, you don't indicate how they are getting rid of Austin. If they are cutting him, they only save $3M which isn't enough for it to significantly impact a Watkins/TruJ decision.

If they manage to trade him somehow, they'll save $8M which could alter what they are able to do.

Good point about Austin (two, actually). So if you just keep one, who would it be? My initial instinct would be Watkins, but not sure TruJo might be more impactful (heresy, I know )? They have a lot of weapons to spread the ball around to - Woods, Kupp, Higbee, Everett, and might be easier to develop a top tier WR than CB in draft? And Woods much more bang for the buck, so far at least.

Ultimately the decision will be based on factors & trade offs such as these, bang for buck, what side can afford loss least, positional scarcity, what position they think they are more likely to be able to replace, develope, etc.

I'd keep Watkins. They do currently have a lot of weapons to spread the ball around to but if you get rid of Watkins it suddenly looks much thinner.

Higbee, Everett, and Reynolds have potential and provide hope but they are not sure things. Without Watkins, you're looking at Woods and Kupp as proven weapons.

I also think it's unlikely they come to an agreement with TruJ. It's obvious his demands have been too rich for the Rams. I don't see that changing with him lowering them.
