For the team, one could make a rational argument that Kaepernick, despite his flaws, is potentially a better option than the QBs they currently have on their roster.

You can also make the argument that he's not (at least in the short run, when he's somewhat unfamiliar with their offense).

I also believe, though, that the Texans, along with every other team in the league, have the right to decide that he's just not worth the trouble.
