His cap number for 2018 is $8M (its almost $15M this year), so the monetary incentive to let him go will decrease.

I think he's playing for his spot on the Rams in 2018 right now. If he doesn't produce more, I could easily see the Rams letting him go, saving the money, and finding a suitable role player to replace him in the middle of the draft.
