I truly do not believe its as complicated as all that. From local sources....Brown to Hawks for Jeremy Lane, a 2018 - 5th round pick and a 2019 - 2nd round pick.
That's the deal, right but to come up with a "present value" of the deal, or what Brown was worth to the Hawks you have to use the DVC, which is a guilding not an exact science. And A pick a year in the future is discounted a round and if it is two years in advance, then it is discounted 2 rounds.'
In this case it's essentially a player plus a 5th and a 3rd (discounted) and the 5th and 3rd can be combined into a single vlaue of a late 2nd (approx) and then the player's value which is harder to know
But it's essentially a net, net value of a 2nd rounder for Brown
