Aaron Donald grab the back of a guy's neck pretty much the same way last year?

Not defending Suh by any means, but thuggish is as thuggish does.

I haven't watched the NBA in many years, but I seem to occasionally remember seeing a power forward throw a big sharp elbow right into somebody's midsection or even their jaw when the official's head was turned. Is that any better or worse?

It makes a person wonder. Controlled violence is allowed on the field within the rules. Acts that would clearly constitute assault if done to someone who cut in front of you at the movie ticket line or something are perfectly fine during the game.

But when does something like grabbing a guy by the throat become a legal violation (not just a rules violation) on the football field?
