Great job with that contract
I generally think the contract stuff in these debates is just largely pointless. No offense, and with all due respect, but anyway I do really think that. To me contract discussions are for the off-season. During the season you use what you have to play and win. You will never find me during the season acting like contracts are an important part of discussion. I also don't even approach contract talk the same way some do. I think guys get hung up going player by player as if they were budget shopping for a used car. To me cap analysis is all about the aggregate. So they spent x amount on this guy and meanwhile the combo of Watkins, Woods, and Kupp costs a total of 8.4 M in 2017. If you see it in aggregate view then it's no wonder the Rams have a very healthy cap situation---better than most in fact (Rams are 3rd in available cap space for 2018. Half the teams in the league have only half or less of their 2018 cap space.)
So given that...Rams are good with the cap. Either way, the Tavon contract was written when he was being used as a WR/RB hybrid in 2015 and gained 900+ yards and 9 TDs on offense. Tavon didn't decide never to be used that way again. That was McVay. That means Cignetti knew how to use him better than McVay does. But then...McVay didn't draft him so he has no obligations to Tavon.
