Fisher had virtually no chance against him. I think he won, what, 1 game against him?
Fisher Rams were 3-5 against the Ariens Cards.
And that's with the Rams having a back-up qb or a rookie starting in all but one game.
While Ariens had Palmer in 7 of those 8 games.
...
How often have the Rams knocked out Palmer? Not counting the 2017 game.
2016: game 1, LA, Rams win, Keenum qb,
Palmer goes out late with concussion protocol symptomsgame 2, ARZ, Arz wins, Goff sacked 7 times, Palmer leaves early not injured
2015: game 1, ARZ, Rams win, Foles qb, Palmer not hurt
game 2, LA, Arz wins, Foles qb, Palmer not hurt
2014game 1, ARZ, Arz wins, Davis qb,
Palmer leaves with kneegame 2, St.L, Arz wins, Hill qb,
Stanton starts game for previously injured Palmer & is knocked out2013: game 1, St.L, Rams win, Bradford qb, Palmer not hurt
game 2, ARZ, Arz wins, Clemens qb, Palmer not hurt
...
In 8 games from 2013-16, Palmer either didn't start or was knocked out of the game 3 times (and Stanton was knocked out 1 other time).
In those 3 games, then, Stanton finished for Palmer twice and Lindley finished for Stanton once. Arz goes 2-1.
However, in those 8 games, the Rams started 7 qbs: Bradford, Clemens, Hill, Davis, Foles, Keenum, and Goff.
The Rams still managed to go 3-5 in that 8 game stretch in spite of starting (what turned out to be) 5 #2 caliber qbs and 1 rookie. Just one starting caliber qb.
In those 8 games the Rams started a veteran #1 caliber qb 1 time.
The 3 Rams wins:
2013, Rams win with Bradford v. Palmer
2015, Rams win with Foles v. Palmer
2016, Rams win with Keenum, Palmer goes out
The 5 Cards wins:
2013, Cards win with Palmer v. Clemens
2014, Cards win though Palmer goes out: in the end it's Stanton v. Davis
2014, Cards win with Stanton/Lindley v. Hill
2015, Cards win with Palmer v. Foles
2016, Cards win with Palmer v. Goff
Now...counting the 2017 game. The Rams have knocked Palmer out in 3 of 9 games from 2013 to the present. They won 2 of those (2017, 2016) and lost one (2014). In a 4th game, Palmer didn't start and it ends up being Stanton then Lindley, a game the Rams lost.
So Rams v. Cards without Palmer: they go 2-2 in those 4 games, winning with Goff in 2017 and Keenum in 2016. They lose with Davis at qb and with Stanton/Lindley v. Hill.
Still counting 2017 now, in the 5 games with Palmer starting and finishing, Rams go 2-3.
