McVay is in the process of developing a 22 year old QB, that is for all practical purposes a rookie.

To me, McVay is trying to put Goff in situations he can handle. The Jags have one of the best pass D's in the league with perhaps the best secondary. So Goff is not asked to pass very much and rather to simply protect the ball.

THIS is how you develop a QB. Slowly, carefully, building his confidence.

Next week will be a different story. They will need to be more balanced against the Cards with more passing than against the Jags. But even then McVay will protect Goff as much as possible on his development journey.

If things continue to go well, by years end we'll see an even better Goff. Next year, likely the training wheels come off.

I think this is because McVay knows he is still tasked to win games
