There is still room for plenty of doubt. Same way there was still room for plenty of doubt about Nick Foles after his Pro Bowl second season with the Eagles.
Probably is the smart answer at this point because what he's shown so far this year "probably" shifts the odds that he's going to be good throughout his career in his favor. But we don't know what happens when defenses adjust to the things he and the Rams offense have done well this year and we know they WILL adjust. We may have seen the start of that last week against Seattle. And we don't know that his thin frame will hold up physically. And we don't know that what we're seeing now isn't the best we're going to see.
There is still plenty of reasonable doubt. But the fact he's done enough to shifted the probability as far as he has so far this season is a huge win at this point and it should be recognized as such. The war is far from over, but he's winning some important battles now and that's about as much as we could have hoped for.
Next battle is today against a good defense on the road. Let's see how he does.
