Agree completely. Martz was a tremendous offensive mind, QB coach, Xs and Os guy. Without a doubt. But his ego was off the charts. It's why he didn't care about turnovers, about special teams, etc. I remember being at the one game I saw in St. Louis in 2003 vs. Baltimore and ST coach Bobby April was imploring Martz about something as they came onto the field after halftime and Martz would not even look at him.

And it was his ego that I will always feel cost them SB36. The "we do what we do" thing that Belichick masterfully played. "Ok, you want to win this game through the air, fine, do it against 6-7 DBs all day." And Martz wouldn't change, even allow any QB audibles, etc.

"Shoot, we'll fix that..."
