What isn't true is that Gurley was overrated coming out of Georgia.
I read lots of post that said Gurley wasn't that good from the start. Stuff like, Gurley always had bad vision, and was like Trent Richardson were just not true.
Gurley indeed didn't prepare well last year, but that was a fixable problem. And it was combined with a terrible environment under Fisher and that offense.
Gurley has all the talent in the world to be an elite back. That was never in doubt from my perspective. Posters, and some media hacks, trying to show that they are smarter than the rest of us were way off base on Gurley. Did Gurley prepare as well as he should have last year? Probably not. But, that was his only shortcoming and it was fixable, and he fixed it.
The best is yet to come from this kid. And I for one, am glad we've got him. He's a rare physical talent, and he's very smart. You win with guys like that.
Yeah, and, I didn't think he was overrated. And yes not working like he should last year was fixable---and he spent this whole off-season fixing it. And in terms of the "terrible environment" (cause of the move and other things) Jackson could run the ball under worse conditions than that. So I see it this way. Gurley was PART OF THE MANY PROBLEMS last year. There were many problems last year and he himself was one of them. I don't look to rationalize it for him...he needed to mature. And voila, he did. So, no problem.
You act as if you're responding to a post that questioned Gurley's talent, but I didn't see anyone doing that.
