There was a comment back in camp that Coach had to back him off a bit so Goff could learn to read and call the D. I really liked that because it's been missing on this line since the Doughnut boys. Having that vet in the middle, a guy who's worked with Coach and has an understanding of his offense is just an enormous upgrade over what we've fielded in like... forever. Smart, and knows how to call the D for what it is. For all of the deserved love Whit gets, I very much believe Sully is the greatest unsung hero here. I really think, quietly, Whit and Sully are bringing both leadership and knowledge to not just the starters, but the entire unit. There has not been leadership there for so, so long. Good coaching is the spark, but it takes players to execute it and leaders to show others how to find the way. . I know his replacement did fine, but I want Sully in this week, and I want him on the field showing the young guys how it's done for as long as his body can take it.
