I haven't followed his career, but he looked like an actual starting QB. But I wondered, as I watched the game, was it the Rams' D that made him look that good, or is he a solid starter in his own right?
Sad to say, one of my favorite Rams, Robert Quinn, just doesn't look effective at all in the new scheme. Might be injuries, the scheme, or both. But I'm worried. After his 19 sack season, I thought he was the best DE in football, and I seriously wouldn't have traded him for any other defensive player. Today, he's the proverbial shadow of his former self.
I'd say the inside linebackers aren't getting the job done, either. Barron and Tree might well be out of (ideal) position in this scheme. Not sure yet about Barwin. He doesn't look as quick as he once was, and he came into the league as a freakish athlete for his size.
DBs? Overall, I think they're okay. I think the biggest worry for the Rams is the Front Seven, especially up the gut. Don't know how that's going to be fixed . . . But it's likely happening in the off-season, not this year.
So weird to be worrying about the D and feel great about the O.
