Well, I suffer from UROS....Ultimate Ram Optimist Syndrome......It's not curable, so I learn to live with it every NFL season.
I think McVay is one of those coaches that scouted his own team. Thus, when he was at Washington, he probably drew up plays and wrote down notes on how he would game plan to beat the Redskins. Why? Because then, if a team attacked him that way, he would already have ideas on how to immediately adjust on the fly without being caught off guard.
I coached HS football for 23 years. One coach would say, "Man, if I was playing our team I would attack off tackle, go with mis- direction plays and always have a check at the LOS to run away from #87 (Stud DE that NOBODY could block).
I think McVay already has the gameplan in his head on how to attack the redskins and his former players.
