I just provided the Mayo Clinic info for YOU, I already knew what caused them.
Of course a weakening of the tendon can cause any injury but that is not the only way the tendon is torn.
I have personally known MANY athletes in varied sports that have suffered achilles injuries.
I know several teenagers that suffered an achilles tear...too much wear and tear?
Mayo specifically says that it can be caused
by sudden increase in sports activities especially jumping and you're still refuting that.
You're unbelievable dude, really.
Quote
Causes: The Achilles tendon is most commonly injured by sudden plantarflexion or dorsiflexion of the ankle, or by forced dorsiflexion of the ankle outside its normal range of motion.[citation needed] Other mechanisms by which the Achilles can be torn involve sudden direct trauma to the tendon, or sudden activation of the Achilles after atrophy from prolonged periods of inactivity. Some other common tears can occur from overuse while participating in intense sports. Twisting or jerking motions can also contribute to injury.[citation needed]
Notice the "sudden trauma to the tendon".
