Not disputing any of this - just your assertion that the amount of money Donald is paid above the next highest defender is legitimately debateable. And the actual dollars, IMO, is irrelevant.
Not sure what you mean or what you think I was saying.
My point was that HOW MUCH he gets above Suh's deal is a legitimate point of negotiation between the team and the player.
I am not really sure what you made of that...but of course what I (actually) said is just true.
It's not real negotiations if the team says "we're offering x" and the player goes "how about y" and the team goes "no! we offered x, you should just accept it."
It's something they have to work through and come to terms on.
There's no question that 2 years after Suh's deal a better defensive player will get more than Suh did...that's just how contracts go up in the NFL.
But how much? Suh got 19 M. Is 20 M a fair offer? 22 M? 21 M?
(To compare--in 2015 Wilson got 21 M, recently Stafford got 27 M. Contracts go up.)
Is it fair to say, hey, we offered you 20 M, that's more than Suh, you should just accept it or be considered greedy?
Negotiations are negotiations and they cut both ways. Rams want it to be less, Donald wants it to be more. They wrangle. That's just all normal stuff.
