He can show up week 11 and still accrue time. Do it again next year too until he is a free agent. Eat up salary cap in the off season then not play until week 11. And to trade him for pennies on the dollar is even worse. Donald is committed to Donald. His right I guess. My right to let it disgust me. Can honestly say I am not a fan of his.
Now my disagreement hinges not on my knowledge of CBA or contract policies but on market value.
If you are not on the field you loose leverage. You loose demand factor. Donald is skilled but not overly glamorous as a position player.
He is not in the running of an elite DE who rolls up sacks.
He is not in the position of a QB who leads the offense
Donald shares only the distinction of being an all pro at his position no more than Adam Timmerman was an all Pro for Packers and Rams. Timmerman played a critical role on our GSOT/E teams but still if he is not playing for 10 games per he is hardly worth the wait.
AD does not put points on the board. He does not force TO at the level of JJ Watt or even Robert Quinn when healthy and does not have the charisma impact of the likes of Warren Sapp and he wants to be paid like Suh but lets be real here.
AD can be the greatest ever but it means nothing and rings hollow if he is unavailable so this is not his best vantage point. 2 years remaining and if no exposure and no playing shape his value will plummet.
If that is his game plan it is a losing one no matter how it impacts Rams it will not be a winning plan for him. 3 years does not a HOF player make.
Too many great DTs in the game now and recent history AD cannot erase that.
