Responses noted, but the early stages of Jared Goff's career bring back memories of Rick Mirer.
Actually, this is quite different from Rick Mirer. Mirer actually had a pretty darn good rookie season -- outplayed Drew Bledsoe, the #1 overall pick that same year, and was named OROY, IIRC. But Mirer never built on that growth, never improved by any measurable degree. He lived off of his ROY reputation and strong vocal support by Bill Walsh, which resulted in his receiving countless opportunities with other teams.
Goff's trajectory to date has been very different. And we can only hope it ends up far better.
