The D measured by points given up per game was around 9th the year before.
They finished outside of the top 10 13th to be exact in total points allowed per game in 2015.
But nice try with the "around" verbiage. lol
Btw the Rams had 53 sacks in 2013, 31 in 2016.
Easily replaceable? Not a chance!
I used the word "around" because I was going from memory.
In overall points given up the Rams were 12th, not 13.
2015 Points Given UpHowever, that overall points metric includes points given up by the offense - pick 6's - and any points scored by ST's. Since we're only talking about how good the D was, the best and most accurate measurement is to look at only the points the D allowed relative to the rest of the league.
The offense gave up plenty that year since it was the worst O in the league.
They were exactly 9th, as I stated, once you adjust for defense stats only.
2015 Points Given Up - Defense OnlyAt any rate, I didn't say they were an elite D, I said they were good. That's the general consensus and the overall metrics support that.
If they had of had a healthy Quinn, the sacks and turnovers would have been higher and there is a good chance they would have been elite.
To maintain a good D, what they have gotten from Quinn the last two years is easily replaceable.
If they want the D to take a step up into elite territory, they will need the healthy, elite Quinn (and Donald). That is not so easily replaceable.
Replacing elite players and production never is.
I was just pointing out that they haven't had that already and survived. Actually, no, they did quite a bit better than survive.
