Smith is every bit as dominant as Donald at a far more desirable position and is prototype height/weight/length so more likely to stay at the top of his game longer (the position also favors this).
Rams would need to sweeten the deal...more then a little
I was thinking along your lines yesterday when this was posted but then I factored in Smith's back. Is it serious? A long term issue? And how confident is Dallas in their ability to keep drafting good/great OL? plus, is Dak "Wilson-like"? Can he function with less of an OL?
Trade is NEVER happening but these are things to ponder IF the teams did call each other.
Even if Dak is Wilson-like, Jerry Jones is NEVER going to intentionally start someone like Emmett Cleary and move Le'el Collins to a THIRD position (G to RT to LT) especially because he's already shown some growing pains with the G to RT move. The Cowboys know where their bread is buttered and they are not going from the best oline in football to still a top oline but transitioning....and then trade Smith and be middle of the pack....maybe.
This isn't even getting in to how little the huge contract DTs are doing to help their teams in the NFL.
