So IF I'm Sammy I would want to ball out this year and get a contract that reflected that. Not one coming off an injury prone year.

Gaines was essentially going to be 3rd on the depth chart. Nothing really lost there.
What if the Rams like Watkins but, playing devils advocate he does gel with Goff and won't resign no matter how well he does?
To ME if you're the Rams you know the talent you just acquired and the capitol you spent to get him. Why not extend now while everything is (seemingly) ammeccable?
Sammy may not want too but no harm in asking if it's me.
