The blue and white is just a temporary change that they could get away with without actually changing the uniform(pants and helmet don't qualify) and pay homage to the LA teams of the coliseum era...
The rebranding was supposed to coincide with the new stadium, but KD said that since the delay of the new stadium that they might do it in 2019 regardless.
