Interesting isn't it? How a coach/GM can set up depth at positions which may offset key injuries.
I do think they actually did that.
Though it's a shot in the dark when I say that, because I don't know how many DL Wade normally has on the 90 in a camp.
Now it doesn;'t always work.
So for example for years the Rams had good depth in camp on the OL and it did not help when they had extensive injuries. OLs in the NFL are just not that deep because the cap and free agency keeps that from happening. So let's say you lose 3 linemen (in 2012 the Rams actually lost 5). That would be the equivalent of using all this DL depth to replace BOTH Donald and Brockers.
So if you;'re trying to say that the 2012-15 Rams did not use training camp depth to cover OL injuries, that's actually factually incorrect. They DID. It just didn't work because once you stress the position with too many injuries, it just doesn't do you any good. No NFL team has OL depth like that.
Plus even the young fresh
previously injury free OL they brought in from 2014-15 ALL got injured with the Rams. Injured linemen in that period include Robinson (toe surgery), Rhaney, Brown, Donnal, Wichman, Hav, and Williams. All of those guys got injured at one point or another. And those were all young guys with no injury history.
