Don't know if that data is any good. The 1950s was a loooooong time ago. The athletes today are bigger, faster, and stronger. The collisions are going to be bigger impacts.
Game in the 50's was more violent, guys played both sides of the ball exposing them to more trauma, much more severe injuries were played with, etc...
