Yes he was great but his results were not the same

July 28, 2017 07:39AM
huge difference between a 4.0 yards per carry runner and a 5.5 yards per carry

Huge difference between touchdown totals in the 20's versus 10.

His career skyrocketed and his results more than doubled with touchdowns and increased his yards per carry by another 30+ percent.

Matt Forte also had a spike in yards per carry.

There are so many examples how players played so much better after Martz coached them. Sometimes immediate results and other times it took time, but it goes on and on.

The 3 QBs from the scratch pile to the pro bowl
Offensive Lineman
Kennison had a very good rookie season under Martz and regressed after he left and didn't come back until much later in his career.
Bruce was rolling had a couple of down years, Martz comes back and he is reenergized.
Forte yards per carry spike
Faulk yards per carry spike
You have a receiver like Mike Furrey leading the conference in receptions and getting 1000 yards another guy from the scrap pile living in his car like Kurt Warner to becoming a successful NFL player under Martz
Curtis becoming a 1000 yard receiver when given the playing time with Eagles
McDonald was close to 1000 yards
You have tight ends Olsen and Davis become great receivers as Tight Ends. I know it was after Martz left, but the know how came from Martz.

Martz's ability to develop players and put them in position to make plays is as good as any coach in history

and don't dismiss Martz's work with bad offensive talent. Remember that Lion team that was 7-9 had 0-16 talent and probably makes the playoffs had Calvin Johnso n had not gotten injured when they were like 6-3. The Bears closest run to the superbowl was when Martz was there. A touchdown away.
and the 49ers with Hill as the QB had a 5-2 run to close out the season. It was probably the best football Hill ever played.

The Rams best football ever was under Mike Martz. End of Story. 0 playoff appearances in a quarter of a century without Mike Martz. 5 in 6 years with Mike Martz running the offense.
