Unless we see a brand spanking new Tavon in Sept, I don't like his chances to continue as a starter much beyond mid Oct.

Not arguing, just presenting an entirely different view/vote.
It IS possible that McVay wants to force Tavon to fit the "pure WR" model and if he can't fit that then McVay is willing to be done with Tavon.
But to me that just means McVay is going to force Tavon to be something he's not and when it doesn't work, will move on.
And that's not even a complaint or a criticism. McVay didn't draft Tavon and nothing requires him to adapt HIS game to Tavon's game.
When it comes to that though, Tavon has already proven his worth--in 2015. That's when he demonstrated that he is a dangerous playmaker, though more of a hybrid multiple weapon guy, not as a pure receiver, which I don;'t think he IS. (I never thought he was. I was saying that before they drafted him, and I wanted them to pick him.)
So what this gets down to is this---if McVay is not willing to change things so that he adapts to Tavon's game, that's his choice. He is willing to see if Tavon can be DeSean west...but IMO Tavon isn't that, and won't be that.
McVay is facing this. Do you stick with your plan, or change your plan to accommodate one player, even if it's a dynamic one? I think he will stick with his plan. If Tavon can't adapt to HIM, he's gone.
However, if it did go the other way, and McVay adapts to Tavon's game instead, then, I think Tavon will demonstrate his value and produce accordingly, a la 2015.
