It just would have been far better to adjust the offense to him his rookie season and what he does well, and give him the snaps and focus from day one in OTAs on. But it was a perfect storm unfortunately where you had a year 5 coach who had to win, a team that just relocated and desperately wanted to win, and a kid from a scheme that had a million things to learn being pressed into service under an offensive staff that was lost.
And you'll probably think I'm defending Goff here, but really I'm just calling it what it is. That we don't know wtf we have because of the way that whole thing was handled. It's miserable man.
I agree with a lot of what you say however the Rams, if you recall, firmly if not foolishly believed that Keenum was a playoff-caliber QB and "had he played ____ amount of games the prior couple years we would have made the playoffs.." So they tested that theory as long as they could before pulling the plug.
But yes, in a perfect world starting Goff day 1 may have furthered him along from where he's at now but also, I could see where the Rams would have been 2-14 OR WORSE with Goff had he played all 16 last year.
So that was a tough call.
To ME the biggest issue of all is and always will be; did they draft the right QB?
Let's face facts, the rams were going nowhere with EITHER CK or Goff under center last year so if Goff turns things around this year it will all be water under the bridge.
R.I.P. Nelson aka TonyHunter87 1971 - 2017 far too soon..
Your last words to me: "Your a great guy RFIP. I was very sad when you left the board, and your son, but was glad to see you back. Take care my friend, may God be by your side." 09/09/2017 12:58AM
No Nelson, you were a far better man than I, and I am sure an awesome husband and father as well. I will miss you my friend. -RFIP
