Tavon was extended (if I recall) in or after 2015 when they knew how to use him. 9 TDs, around 900 combined yards. Now a later regime wonders how to use him,.
What then happened, according to one good theory by Ag I endorse, is that they screwed up the Jenkins re-signing and as a result had to tag Tru, twice.
They screwed up the Jenkins re-signing because suddenly Demoff, who was very good at contracts, was mr. Move Administrator, and the contracts fell to a green guy, Demoff's protege.
Jenkins surprised them by saying "sqrue it" and just walking. Presumably if Demoff were not preoccupied with the move his more experienced negotiating skill would have prevented that.

I can see where Demoff would be distracted by the move. But I can't see how it would prevent him finding the time to have a meeting with the coaches and his own assistants to determine a ceiling for a Jenkins contract.
Once that ceiling was determined, then it became a question merely of whether or not JJ could be signed by the Rams.
So, The Move was a distraction for Demoff and Fisher, but it certainly didn't paralyze them.
I refuse to use it as an excuse for losing JJ or for a 4-12 season. Too much like a "dog ate my homework" thing.
