I appreciate your POV, but I think that Goff (going into his 1st full season as a starter) has a lot to learn.

For example, he might understand McVay's offense, but does he understand the opponent's defense? How does he respond in a two-minute offense?

Some of these important issues take time to acquire and might not have anything to do with WR's, OL, or knowledge of his own offense.

He came out of college not yet able to read defenses pre-snap (and react appropriately) and then also not having dropped back from center reading defenses post-snap. Among other things that would include, as you say, is a much better understanding of NFL defenses.

That's not fixed in a year.

Goff had his own issues last year separate and independent from all the other issues.

What WON'T work talking about this is to make it "everyone's fault but Goff" when talking about Goff (or for that matter "everyone's fault but Gurley" when talking about Gurley.)

It was everyone's fault, INCLUDING Goff and Gurley.

They could fix the entire offense from top to bottom and Goff would STILL have issues to work on...and that's because he come out of college behind on those things.

I would say a very successful year by Goff would be to expect as the CEILING something like Cousins's 3rd year in Washington. QB rating in the low to mid 80s.

Anything better than that would be very surprising, though having said that, I am not against surprises. If it happens I would take it.

If he;s still struggling in year 3 then you have to wonder.
