I've watched every game he played in last year. And while some of it was a fiasco, some wasn't.
Yeah, he missed some passes. Some, no doubt, his fault. Fumbling, his fault. Running around in the backfield instead of throwing it away, his fault. But that is the adjustment from college to Pro.
But the kid has a darn good arm and he is accurate. He stands tall in the pocket and doesn't look jittery (for the most part).
Several times when the ball hit the ground he looked at his target like.....what the heck were you doing?
But no doubt, he was NOT ready last year to play, and the idea that he was the most ready of the college QBs to start was clearly a wrong assessment. You just can't be a in an offense like the Air Raid and then become an under center drop back Pro in a few months. Calling your protections; reading D's. Heck, in college he never even called plays in the huddle. Big adjustments.
I won't even go into the p$$$ poor guys he was throwing to, the absurd Oline play, and the non-coaching and "junior high" offense as Gurley called it.
He is developing. And he will take two steps forward and one back. But now he has the right guys to coach him, will have the right offense to feature him, and perhaps even some Recievers to run good routes and even catch the football.....even not perfectly thrown ones.
I really do have hope for him, and I don't think it is pie in the sky.
Is it a lock? Heck no.
