Where I do agree, I think, is that I believe the cost of the stadiums, and the greedy need to retire stadiums early just to build fresh and new is ridiculous. Decadence as it's worst.
BUT.. even if decadent, I can still appreciate them at some levels. Phoenix, for example, is fantastic looking at it from the point of view of the fan... easy to park, easy to get too, lots of surrounding attractions, GRASS field, and the concourse is BRILLIANT... almost no wait, even when packed, for a beer, a dog, or a trip to the restroom.
Looks-wise? Eh... not my cup of tea. But most people I know think it's gorgeous. I'm, not big news here, very old fashioned... but NOT my era.. before my era. Those old stadiums from the teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, are magnificent.
The mid-west has many minor league baseball parks that are BEAUTIFUL... and I actually like the Giant's new stadium... which, as you know, hearkens back to yesteryear. - JamesJM
