This is a 'generational' thing I'm sure but I think the single most 'different' thing I find about today's fans... and I mean truly good fans, is that they, (sure seems to me), root MORE against teams than they do FOR their team.
MOST NFL fans I know today when talking, or posting, about sports focus on the teams they hate FAR more than the team they like.
Ok, this example is baseball, but it applies: I know a Giant fan, (and I like the Giants), that I have never ONCE seen post about the Giants, as the subject matter that is. He posts DAILY and without exception is smack talking a team he hates, (Mostly the Dodgers, obviously).
I can understand that when a big game is coming up... like the Rams vs the Niners... but non-stop with no thought whatsoever to other games or even their own team when NOT playing the hated rival? I don't get it... but like I said.. MOST 'young' fans that I know do exactly that. - JamesJM
My teams (Rams, Blackhawks, Lakers, Tigers, OU football, UCLA basketball) ALL come long before any team I hate when it comes to posting. Now when my team is eliminated my thoughts go to the team I "hate" and who is best in line to eliminate THEM.
And its MUCH worse for ME in the Pittsburgh area in this regard. Example: I am a HUGE Blackhawks fan and all my friends know it so NOW that they have been eliminated all my Penguin friends rip me on end and it's a 99% certaintiy to ME that the Pens are going to win another cup this year...SOOOOOO I have adopted the Nashville Preditors because in my view they are the oNLY team left who could beat Pittsburgh (but in my heart I know they cannot BUT I MUST PRETEND THEY CAN!!)!
Not sure I answered your question or if that was what you were looking for but it's how I feel on said subject.

Your last words to me: "Your a great guy RFIP. I was very sad when you left the board, and your son, but was glad to see you back. Take care my friend, may God be by your side." 09/09/2017 12:58AM
No Nelson, you were a far better man than I, and I am sure an awesome husband and father as well. I will miss you my friend. -RFIP
