in the very late 60's, then in the 70's, when I would wake up and 'work', (I was a farmer), would be cancelled... rain maybe, a bad equipment breakdown - - and I'd decide, about 6am, to go to the game.
I didn't think twice about racing home, jumping in my car, and heading to LA... about 4 hours. Tickets were the least of my worries.. in fact, it wasn't a worry at all. Even the ticket agencies back then would have game day tickets for less than $20.
I also had my first 'season tickets' during the 70's. But not every year. Football season is cotton harvest season as well. I used to work out a deal with my farming 'partner' in which the 'deal' was every other year I'd get season tickets... my off years my partner would get off on Sunday and do whatever in the hell he did. Didn't quite work out the way... sometimes I had season tickets in back to back years. but the funny thing is: It was NO PROBLEM! I could get season tickets on the spur of the moment back then. - JamesJM
