I think i'm stick in the mud
Gurley runs well. Short down and distances, or better yet, easy first downs, and play action opens up.
Gurely catches well, and RACs. Allows Goff to swing the ball out quick and let the star RB go make plays in space. That happens? Defense has to spy a guy on him, and again moves the chains without getting easy hits on the QB
Gurley blocks well. A key component in picking up the extra defender or making that seal block, allows an extra beat or better for Goff to get and find an open receiver.
The longer they run the ball, the longer the defense stays off the field, and something big happens on defense.
So much happens positively when you run the ball well.
The modern game absolutely says you pass the ball, and you pass first and makes things happen. But I still believe that you make them pay for centering too much attention on the QB by having a RB that kills you when left unaccounted.
It is amazing that some of these clubs can't find the playoffs
Rams were bad; But the Bills had some life out McCoy.
Oh well.
Perhaps I'm wrong
Perhaps Gurley doesn't have to even be average for the Rams to make the playoffs.
But from the seat I was in he was deplorably bad, and if you can't move the chains on the ground in given situs......it'll be another ugly year.
