I know you know this, RFL, and you were trying to make a larger point. But one of the problems is that we tend to fence people in on one "side" or another, or make it an all or nothing opposition.
Well, as you say, I am trying to make a different point. I think it's fair to say that people tend to lean toward hope or toward despair, though of course recognizing that no one lacks the other side of the coin. And I have ZERO desire to try to move people toward either pole of the continuum.
Again. My point is about recognizing the limits of what we know. All too often, I see people on both sides of the issue arguing emphatically for assumptions based on what we really don't know. I think clear perception needs to see the limits of what one can see.
